Jan Kropáč z Nevědomí,  owner of the Hranice domain laid foundations of the balneal usage of the place when he  let build an artificial stone bathing reservoir in 1553 which the most yielding springs of mineral water were led to.  In 1711 the first spa building was built on the left side of the Bevy river at the place of the present  spa sanatorium building Bečva.
In the 30´s of the 20th century therapeutic effects of the local unique mineral water t were proved the for treating cardio-vascular diseases and there came a  period of a great spa boom.
